Does the above picture looks familiar to you? That’s how I feel pretty much every morning, when I discover there is no coffee at my home and the nearest place is way too far to go in my pajamas.
Basically I am a coffee addict and I can claim without any shame that a day without coffee is a lost one for me. It’s not only about the fact that coffee wakes me up, it’s something like a daily ritual – the aroma, the taste the nice interior when I have a chance to drink it in some nice coffee place.
As a picky person, I am not able to be satisfied with any coffee from any random place. It has to be an amazing coffee drank in some amazing place.
I prepared a short list of the best coffee shops, which I usually visit either when I want a coffee to go or when I have some more time to sit and relax over the cup of an aromatic blend.
My Little Melbourne Coffee
Located in the heart of Madách Imre tér is one of my favorite coffee shops. Really adorable interiors with friendly staff and different types of coffee based beverages with rare and unique topping designs made out of steamed milk.
It’s also a perfect place to work a little bit or read a book. During spring/summer, I recommend to sit outside – you can really feel the city beat.
Another amazing coffee place in Budapest. Located at Czuczur utca 3 (or Váci út 85), this place serves super delicious coffee and you can personalize your choice with a variety of add-ons like cold milk foam, caramelized sugar, hot chocolate and so on. You can also buy a pack of coffee and enjoy the taste at your home! I usually order a cappuccino but ‘funky bourbon’ sounds promising as well! Worth to mention the interiors which look a bit underground but give you the overall pleasant and cozy feeling.
My latest discovery! This coffee shop offers wide range of coffee and their latte is made out of milk from free-range cows. Its a purely organic shop and the concept originally came from Norway. The interior is really cool, looks a bit industrial but its a perfect place to have a healthy sandwich along with aromatic coffee. I like to work from there from time to time. When you will be there, don’t forget to grab one of their coffee magazines (written in English)! You can get a lot of info about the coffee business in general (Váci út 14).
Kahwa el Salam
Located at Belgrád Rakpart 19 utca is a perfect coffee place where in addition, you can try Syrian and Hungarian specialties, great desserts and you can even smoke shisha. Coffee tastes really good especially when you sit outside on the porch and have an amazing view of Danube river and Gellért Hill.
Super welcoming place to have fresh coffee and eat delicious panini! Located by the Danube river, it is a great workplace! You can grab a book if you feel like reading but once you get hungry, you can have tasty lunch as well. I am usually popping up there during morning hours to get my cappuccino and I must admit that creative interiors and laid-back atmosphere make me feel relaxed and charge with positive energy for the rest of my day (Radnóti Miklós u.45).
I adore this place! It’s not only a great coffee place but also an art gallery with the overall goal of promoting photography trends in Hungary. The bar is really tiny but bartenders know how to take care of their guests. Laid back atmosphere attracts a lot of people there and in the evening , you can hear some great tunes from local DJs. During summer, its more than mandatory to drink your espresso outside in the square and if you feel like purchasing some cool hand made items, the Lumen art shop is just right next to this coffee place (Mikszáth Kálmán tér 2-3).
