In February and beginning of March, all eyes have been on fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris, where we praised the collections for A/W ’14. In April, all eyes (at least Hungarian ones) are on Toni&Guy Fashion Week Budapest, where six top Hungarian designers showcased their collections for Autumn – Winter season.
Similar to last year, on an invitation by Big Bag PR agency, I took part in this incredible event. TGFWB, which as usual took place in Plazzo Dorottya was beyond my expectations!
Before I comment on each collection, it is really worth to mention the coordination and organization of the event, at first. A simply wonderful cat walk! That’s the first thing which comes to my mind when I think of a fashion show. Two long ramps, interspersed well with the seating arrangement that made audience feel comfortable and did not cause any congestion. Coffee conversations, snack bar and pop up stores helped you to relax between shows.
First show had been opened by Kata Szegedi, which I was watching live from home, the same with NUBU.
As we can read from the press releases, Kata in her A/W ’14 collection emphasized on dots and stripes in terms of prints, heavy linen, tasseled surfaces, impregnated textiles and printed neoprene in terms of fabric use. We could praise pencil skirts, cigarette pants or oversize coats and dresses.

NUBU’s collection was dominated by fine wools, leather and fur. The designers worked with the moderate color palette of NUBU (black, grey, beige), yet complemented with dark blue and royal blue spots.

Je Suis Belle collection highlighted color black and gave you a feeling of expecting a lot of funerals in Autumn/Winter ’14.
From long dresses to A line skirts, sporty jackets to knee – lengthy oversize coats you have only one choice – a black one.
However a lot of sporty cuts made me give a second chance and try some of their pieces in colder days.

ANDA showcased long pencil skirts, asymmetric coats and concluded by enormous platforms.

Backstage highlights
Enikő Mihalik – Hungarian super model
Nanushka – our queen of mixing styles. Sweatshirt and a below-the-knee skirt or mini dress with little prints is your autumn winter’s must have.
She is never afraid of colors, no matter how restrained they are, they are just there!
USE unused stole my heart this year and deserves all the praise. Their pleated skirts and dresses top my list. Very elegant collections with stylish hats on the brink.
Which collections stole your heart?
