I've lived in Madrid for a few years now, and Chamberí is the neighborhood I know best. It's still my favorite part of the city — close to the center, but with a real local feel. Below is my Chamberí guide: the fashion boutiques, home decor shops, coffee shops, bookstores, restaurants, and specialty food stores I actually go to.

The 11 Spots
Olavide Bar de Libros
One of the first places I found in Chamberí, even before I moved to Madrid. It works as a bookstore and café — read, buy books, grab a coffee or a drink with a small snack. They often host book events too. Super cozy.
Ostras Pedrín
Probably the best place for oysters and prosecco in Chamberí. Love the design, love the vibe — one of those easygoing spots you can drop into even straight after work.
Smile
This Spanish clothing brand will genuinely put a smile on your face — bold colors, playful prints, small cute details. One of my favorite fashion stores in Chamberí, where a single piece can pull your whole look together.
Rughara
A step up — international brands, a great shoe selection including one of my favorite Scandinavian labels, Vagabond, plus curated home decor, bags, and a small selected-books corner. More concept store than boutique, with genuinely unique pieces.
Kamir Decoración y Regalos
One of my favorite home decor stores in Madrid — cute plates, vases, small objects, colorful carpets, and thoughtful design throughout. I own more pieces from here than I'd like to admit.
Boutique de la Prensa
If you're a magazine addict like me and want international titles or a proper coffee table book, this is the place. Unique, all-international selection — nothing you'll find at a regular kiosk.
Mercato Italiano
I've spent countless evenings here — Italian food is my weakness, sorry Spain. Genuinely some of the best fresh pasta and pizza in Madrid, plus a small shop corner to buy Italian products. Small, local, fresh — nothing else in Chamberí compares.
Clima Cafecito
Spent plenty of work hours here — great coffee, attentive service, a proper breakfast menu, good music (no reggaeton, thank God), and a genuinely nice local crowd. Bring your laptop, get things done.
Toque de Sal
If you like French food, this is worth checking out. Honestly I go more for the design than the menu, though the duck was excellent.
Lauricca
This is where I buy my Italian groceries — good olive oil, several types of pasta, ravioli, tortellini, a proper ham and cheese selection, and Italian sweets. I'd happily buy the whole shop. Once the Italian food craving kicks in, there's no stopping it.
Espacio Late
This one is special to me. It's not just a cute café and bookstore — it's also a meeting point for a group of investigative journalists from Latin America who publish their own magazine. Scan the QR codes on the prints on the wall and you'll land on some genuinely interesting articles. I've been to a few of their book launches too — a warm crowd, and probably the most intellectual corner of Chamberí.
