So let’s talk about work wardrobes in 2026!

I’ve been scrolling through LinkedIn for a while, observing people’s photos. Many posts are filled with long speeches about work culture, toxicity, management styles — the usual preaching. I mostly skipped the text and focused on the photos, and I was a bit shocked. I saw women aged 30–40, naturally attractive, wearing heavy makeup and clothes that easily make them look at least 10 years older. Structured jackets and skirts from the ’90s, plain colors, straight hair, silver jewelry — very old-school. I couldn’t help but wonder: why do this to yourself?

I’ve heard from many people that younger women in business often aren’t taken seriously, so they try to appear as “professional” as possible to compensate for perceived lack of experience. But after 15 years in business, doing strategic negotiations for one of the world’s biggest companies, I can tell you: strong makeup or overly formal clothes don’t give you the confidence you’re seeking.

Appearance matters in business, yes — but it’s layered depending on your profession. The most important things are being sure and confident about what you want to deliver, whether it’s to your boss, board members, or stakeholders. Speak clearly, maintain a straight posture, stay calm — these are essential. Your look will naturally follow.

Seeing so many women in black jackets or ultra-white suits just makes me smile — they often look older than they are, and I don’t find that necessary. That’s why I went through shops offering stylish workwear, and I want to show you how to look professional while respecting your age and adding a touch of flair.

But since we’re in Madrid, with its beautiful, distinguished pija aesthetic, let’s put together some work outfits using pieces that truly represent this look. And for those who want to add a bit of fun to an otherwise stiff wardrobe, I’ll show you how small accents can instantly transform the outfit. We’ll be using local Spanish brands only.
